Be inspired by their genuine message. Be encouraged by their true stories. Be equipped by their Biblical insight.
As we look across the landscape of Christian families and Christian homes, there is one relationship which has been universally forgotten and forsaken -- that of fathers and daughters. God designed it to be one of the most beautiful and powerful relationships that we can experience. As we seek to see the Godly family restored, we must not ignore the special bond that God creates between every girl and her daddy.
DAVID BARRETT, and his twenty-one year old daughter, ELYSSE BARRETT, want to see Christian families be all that God designed for them to be...and it starts with the restoration of a father's heart towards his daughter and a daughter towards her father! (Malachi 4:6)
Laugh and cry with David and his daughter Elysse as they open the door to their home and their relationship. Allow them to share with you their struggles and success as they have sought to make Jesus Christ Lord of their father-daughter relationship.
In more than a dozen topics, David shares about their unique relationship through the eyes of a father, while Elysse looks at their life and dreams through a daughter's heart.
FATHERS and DAUGHTERS: Raising Polished Cornerstones is written for fathers and daughters of all ages, as David and Elysse reflect on over twenty years of growing, learning, and sharing as Dad and daughter.
FATHERS and DAUGHTERS: Raising Polished Cornerstones addresses topics such as: > I'm My Daddy's Girl > A Father's Call as Protector > Embracing Your Family's Vision > How to Win Your Daughter's Heart > Preparing for Singleness > Biblical Principles of Child Training > Growing into Godly Womanhood

ENDORSEMENTS for FATHERS and DAUGHTERS: Raising Polished Cornerstones...

Patrick Mahoney Director, Christian Defense Coalition

I wish all dads could experience the joy of such a closeness with their daughters. Sadly, this isn’t the case in so many homes. Now, through this tremendous book, Fathers and Daughters: Raising Polished Cornerstones, David and Elysse offer hope and direction.” –William J. Federer Author, Speaker, former Congressional Candidate

"Cornerstones are the keys to the rest of the building. They give direction and set the angles for most of what follows. So it is with the training of daughters. Though the world would say that teaching daughters to appreciate their Biblical role is stiffling their creativity, the opposite is true. The Bible calls daughters polished cornerstones for a reason. True women of faith give direction to their children, and set the angles or beliefs necessary for God's line of liberty to flower in the future..
David and Elysse Barrett have done a service to the body of Christ. Though you may not agree with every idea presented, you will benefit from both the thoughtful content as well as the motive and desire of this father-daughter team. Through years of fruitful study and practice, David and Elysse, together with others who have labored with a similar mindset, set forth a vision for not only the early years of training, but the later years of fruitful harvest.
If this book is successful, it will help dispel the myth that we must have a generation gap. It would also dispel the myth that our teens must rebel in order be ultimately fulfilled. Don't buy the lies of our culture that have produced such corruption. Instead, buy this book and purchase the truth - you'll be glad you did, and your children and grandchildren will one day rise and call you blessed if you are faithful to the Word of God!" --Dr. Paul Jehle Senior Pastor, The New Testament Church, Plymouth, Massachusetts
"As a father of five children, four of them being daughters, this book, "Fathers and Daughters" by David and Elysse Barrett, was a tremendous blessing to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the personal experiences they used as teaching moments in their lives. As a teaching elder in my church, I love to study commentaries on the Bible, and David Barrett did a superb job unpacking many key verses in Scripture that address how we as parents should be training up the next generation. I strongly recommend this book and study to all Christian fathers of teenage and preteen daughters." -- David d'Escoto Dexios, Inc., (Co-author of "The Little Book of Big Reasons to Homeschool")
"Although a strong bond between father and daughter it isn’t very commonly seen anymore in families, I am so grateful that David & Elysse are encouraging people to re-establish the vision Christ has for the family. The book Fathers & Daughters, Raising Polished Cornerstones challenged me to become the person I was called to be by God. I was in a sense “sharpened” as a Christian, and I began to embrace my role as a daughter more. I continue to understand more clearly the importance of being raised up as a Christ-worthy weapon in the spiritual battle, even though I have been called “sheltered” because of some of the loving decisions my parents have made for my life. I’ve learned as a young lady growing up in a worldly culture that it is a comfort to know that my father is guardian of my heart, and to have my parents as my main spiritual leaders/trainers. There was a part in the book’s companion study where the authors suggested that I write a personal letter to my father. Through writing, I was able to clearly voice to my father what I wanted to be for him, and what he was to me. I can gladly say that this letter became one of my father’s most cherished gifts! I think overall, the entire book and study was truly a gift from the Lord in my life, that is why I will pass on this book to my friends, praying that it will bless their relationship as it did with me and my father." --Kayla d’Escoto 15 year-old daughter of David & Kim d’Escoto, authors of “The Little Book of Big Reasons to Homeschool.”
